DANCING IN THE PARK @ FREESPACE JAZZ FEST
Join us for a fantastic Sunday afternoon concert with dancing as we enjoy two great bands playing some (very danceable) swing music. Both Nate Wong’s Swing Dynasty and Kowloon Swing Outfit will show us what they’ve got in this exciting double billing. For newbies to the dance, don’t miss out on our Free Taster Classes.
Location: Harbourside Lawn East @ Freespace Jazz Festival
Price: FREE!
Social dancing is available during the 2 live sets at ~4:20pm and ~5:20pm
4pm – Adult Taster (15+) Learn some basic partner dancing that will go through some basic connection and shapes to get you dancing to music.
5pm – Kids Solo Jazz Taster (7-15) Learn some Authentic Solo Jazz shapes that are both fun and inspiring. Allowing anyone to express themselves to jazz music with ease!
Please note that for kids under 11 years old, the 5pm taster class requires adult supervision.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for a smooth check-in.
There are limited spots available on a first-come-first serve basis.
A valid email is required to receive your e-ticket confirmation.

Learn what makes music SWING in this special workshop with both dancers and musicians.
This workshop is perfect for both dancers and jazz lovers who want to understand the building blocks of swing jazz music. We’ll answer questions like…
- What is AABA structure?
- What is the rhythm section?
- What is ‘Swing rhythm’
- How do musicians improvise?
- And many more.
Nate Wong and Jerold Chu are the musicians who will be joining dancers Thomas Latter and Aurore Alauze to take you on this very special journey. And stay after for some Live Swing Music that you can truly appreciate!
