The Big Apple originally was a dance of Solo Jazz Steps. But was pieced together into a full routine by Frankie Manning and Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers in the movie ‘Keep Punching’. Today Swing Dancers all over the world know how to dance this and you can see it on the social floor very often. Let’s take a moment to learn this iconic tune so that next time the DJ decides to have some fun, we can all join in together.
It’s possible that you won’t have the whole routine in just 2 hours and 30 minutes. But we’ll be sure you have the skeleton and know where to take your practice further. And while there are some complicated steps in the routine. Most of the difficulty comes from the sheer number of steps, so it is accessible to beginners to solo jazz as well.
